What this environment asks for

Assembly work is the narrowest action vocabulary in the programme and the most demanding on description precision. The same few actions repeat all shift, so what distinguishes one clip from another is the specific part, the orientation and the fixture it goes into.

This environment is in build-out. Capture requires site access and a confidentiality position that takes longer to arrange than household recording, so the schema is defined ahead of the data.

How the work runs

• Applying the published rule set unchanged for interoperability with existing records.
• Defining part-level vocabulary with the client rather than using generic object names.
• Segmenting fastening sequences at each discrete fastener rather than per assembly.
• Separating tool operation from the part handling around it.
• Recording orientation and seating state where they change the action's meaning.
• Applying the same four-pass review model before delivery.

What makes it hard

• A narrow action set means near-identical clips distinguished only by part and orientation.
• Generic object names carry no signal, so part vocabulary must be agreed up front.
• Hands and tools occlude the seating point at the moment it matters.
• Fixtures and jigs constrain the view angle available to a head camera.
• Site access and confidentiality terms gate capture before annotation begins.
• Shift-length repetition puts consistency ahead of accuracy as the main risk.

Result

Programme defined against the existing rule set, with part-level vocabulary to be agreed per client before capture begins.
